Our project goals

For FE & HE educators

Integrate learning, assessment and skills development into an industry environment, while providing the resources and support to enhance an educator's teaching and offering.

For students

Fully immerse a student into the operations of 'their own race-team', to gain the professional industry experience and 'work-ready' skills they need. Above all - inspire their journey.

Setting out the Student Motorsport Challenge

The Student Motorsport Challenge is carefully positioned to provide an attainable yet challenging project where success isn’t governed by the largest investment or in-house resources.

Set up a race team

Challenge students and educators to set up a race-team and find a qualified driver (or enter a new qualified driver).

Build a race car

Convert a road-going Citroën C1, Peugeot 107 or Toyota Aygo to BRSCC CityCar Cup race car specifications.

Compete on-track

Compete against other college and university teams in the CityCar Cup's Awards class for Challenge entrants and against regular competitors in the Drivers Championship.

Compete off-track

Enter a series of awards to measure your team's professional development, media and commercial savviness and car preparation skills.

Embed the project

Make the project part of your curriculum and make use of resources and consultancy provided through your Challenge entry.

Collaborate

Work with other departments to bring students into specialist areas such as marketing or business studies, and consider how you can collaborate with external partners.

Provide industry experience

Provide your students with real-world experience and develop them into the skilled, work-ready professionals the industry needs.

Create a year-on-year project

Create a rebuild project with lower investments after the initial first year and hone your performance in all areas to keep up with or ahead of the competition.
