Branding….What does it say about you?

What is your brand? I’ve spoken before about racing drivers being a business.
Sponsors want to know your identity, what do you represent? Are you instantly recognisable?

Thanks for the post here, this is such an important topic to raise and is super useful for those building a brand or even simply understanding what ‘branding’ means!

Branding is something etched into the very heart of every driver in the motorsport industry, and we hear them talk extensively about it. But let’s consider what student-based teams and motorsport teams and organisations do to promote their brands. I see a vast range of organisations and teams (including those carrying out student projects) discussing aspects of their on-going promotional ‘drive’ such as:

1. Identifying who their supporters and sponsors are.
2. Pointing out how they ‘repay the support they receive’.
3. Showcasing what they are ‘doing’ – evidence the various activities they do to support.

But what I’m interested in is what our members feel brand represents? What are the key things that teams and organisations could/should do to illustrate their brand, and what are they doing to develop their brand?
