Hospitality Experience

Posted by: EmmaB - Posted: December 11, 2020

Hi Everyone…

You may have seen in some of my previous posts that I currently help to run a family Formula Ford racing team.  Some of you may not know that I have a good few years experience in Formula Ford racing and marshalling at events, but it is my dream to gain a full-time role within hospitality in motorsport.

I have experience in hospitality in 2019 when I volunteered to work with a BTCC team’s hospitality department during 1 event, my experience of carrying out hospitality for the Formula Ford team really helped during that time…it was an amazing event to be involved in but now I would like to pursue my dream further.

I am currently looking for any hints and tips from anyone who is involved in this sector of the industry or anyone who has been in hospitality before.

How can I work towards gaining more experience in hospitality, even as a volunteer and ultimately secure a role in this part of the industry?

I look forward to any hints and tips you may have!

Good Afternoon Emma,

Just checking in to see what your next steps are with your drive to get hospitality experience. I see you’ve posted an update on Stopwatch Hospitality and the support they have extended to you…

So whats your next steps and have you heard from anyone else offering you support?

Good Morning

I am currently in the process of research more than anything at the moment mainly looking at what teams offer hospitality and what championships they compete in and who I need to contact in the different teams to discuss experience. I am going to start contacting various teams over the next couple of days and go that next step closer!

At the moment I have only spoken to Stopwatch Hospitality which was very much appreciated.

I will be sure to keep you all updated with my progression into hospitality.

Hi Emma,

Gald to see you are staying pro-active in your approach…sadly opportunities don’t ‘land on our laps’…that would be too easy.

Things that are worth working towards take time and effort, and preparation and understanding is key to which you seem to have a hold of which is great.

Keep us in the loop on your progress, we’d be really interested to hear what responses you get, both positive and any negative we can learn from and share with the network.

Thank you for your comment it is certainly taking a lot of research and reaching out to different teams but it is most definitely worth the time and effort.

I will certainly keep you all in the loop with my progress and share any tips that I gain as I continue to pursue my dream.

Hi, Emma. Great to see you being so proactive in your pursuit of a role in hospitality. How has the search been going? In today’s world (and from my perspective, it’s probably been like this for many years) anybody looking to start or further their career needs to approach it with a ‘self employed’ mindset. By that I mean, the responsibility for developing a career lies with the person and not their employer or the market. Sometimes the phone rings and sometimes you see the perfect job advertised, apply and get it but most of the time success comes from networking, making personal approaches, gaining unpaid experience and generally getting out there and getting involved. Best of luck – I’m sure you’ll be successful.

Hi Andy

Thank you for your comment, the research has gone really well thank you. It has been great taking time and learning more about the hospitality industry.

I have some good news coming soon and will update on here as soon as I can.
