Personal Statement | Hi Guys! I am looking to hopefully kick-start a full time career in Motorsport working within the mechanics/engineering side of things! I have spent the past 4 years working within the motor trade firstly for a Volkswagen main dealer following onto a 6 month placement in an independent specialist, but unfortunately this didn’t work out for me so decided to pursue a career in Motorsport instead! I am currently working part time and mostly voluntarily within GB4, Classic F3, formula ford and caterham graduates competitions and just trying to find any experience/help that may help me gain a full time job within Motorsport! |

Career Timeline
Qualifications or training | Western Volkswagen ( Service Tech Apprentice) |
Brief Summary | Carrying out daily duties to help with the daily running of the workshop. Along with this I have worked on cars for many things, such as servicing, general maintenance and for finding faults when required. This required me to use a number of different tools such as general hand tools, diagnostic equipment and Volkswagens own special tools to find and rectify a fault to brand standards. It is also my responsibility to make sure that most of the equipment within the workshop, such as brake fluid machines are refilled and serviced when required. I was also responsible for all of the business’s special tools and equipment. This role includes making sure the tools are properly maintained and making sure the equipment is logged in our online system. This enables me to work on my organisation skills as well as allowing me to gain some managerial experience. |

Brief Summary | Carrying out all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair. Ranging from basic servicing to engine work and diagnostic work. This requires the use of different hand tools as well as diagnostic equipment when required to diagnose and repair the customer complaint. I am also responsible for helping with the customer facing side of the business, booking customers in the diary for work, communicating with them regarding the progress of their car and the work being carried out and providing them with their vehicle once all work has been completed. I am also at times needed to help with the running of the workshop, watching over other members of staff and making sure that all work is completed on time and to the best standard possible |

Brief Summary | Another volunteering role consisting of a very similar set up to GBR. Here I am responsible for helping to maintain their Formula Ford and two Mini Coopers which we enter into events. On race days and track days I am responsible for setting up our pit garage, making sure we have all the required tools and set up equipment for the session. During sessions I am also responsible for tracking data from the cars, watching where we can improve lap by lap. Whilst doing this I also need to be prepared to carry out any trackside repairs quickly and efficiently to make sure we can get the best out of the car on the day |

Brief Summary | This is a volunteer role I complete at the weekend as part of my hobby. Here I work on a range of different cars within motorsport, ranging from maintaining and repairing their Formula Ford, Classic Formula 3 and GB4 cars. These cars compete in multiple competitions throughout the year where I am required to attend to prepare the cars for the event and carry out any required repairs throughout. Along with this I also assist in maintaining the two driving experience cars they own, a Ferrari and Aston Martin Vantage, making sure these are up to a standard where a customer can take these cars on track at any moment in time |
