Summer Work Experience

Posted by: izzyhemus - Posted: February 23, 2021

Hi there, I’m a second year mechanical engineering (MEng) undergraduate at the University of Nottingham. I’m really interested in getting some work experience either this summer or next in the motor sport industry. I’m a newbie to formula engineering however have recently found it extremely interesting especially as it seems so hands on and would love to start getting some experience in this sector. I’m looking to base my third year project around the ‘Formula Student’ competition next year so I’m keen to get some involvement in the engineering side of this industry in the summer of 2021. Just wondered if anyone could advice me on who to approach and how to do it!

Thanks

Hi Isabella,

Welcome to our network, we’re seeing an increasing number of female students studying Mechanical Engineering at university which is great!

I see you studied at Bablake School, GCSE through to your Alevels achieving A’s and A*’s, what an amazing achievement you must be proud of yourself, well done from all of us here!

So, you say that you have an interest in ‘formula-style motor racing as it seems to be hands-on, well it certainly is an interesting sector and very much hands-on. We’re here to help start to ‘mould’ you so that you can achieve your career goals, it’s really about acting on this now so you get the best start you can. We’ll help you to acquire the experience you’re looking for.

First up can we ask are you required or encouraged to find work experience by the university or your tutors, and if so how many hours?

Oh, and well done for also putting an effort into your SMo profile here! A better-completed profile speaks volumes about you, it’s not just about the posts you create or questions you ask, people want to see who and what type of person creates them, so keep up the good work!
