The Student Motorsport Challenge is the world’s first cross-departmental motorsport programme, designed not only to drive racing talent but also to cultivate crucial professional skills. The Challenge provides a platform for aspiring engineers, media strategists, business leaders, and environmental advocates, all contributing to the evolving field of motorsport.

We are proud to bring innovation, skill, and teamwork to the forefront with the Student Motorsport Challenge Awards, an initiative launched in 2022. These awards celebrate extraordinary achievements across every facet of the motorsport experience, shining a light on the skill, creativity, and resilience displayed by our students and their teams.

Through three on-track areas, the Pit Stop Challenge, and seven main distinctive categories, the Student Motorsport Challenge Awards highlight the range of talents, from the intricate mechanics of Race Car Build and the precision of Race Car Preparation to dynamic Media Activity and Commercial ingenuity. We champion teams that demonstrate Professionalism, Team Development, and a commitment to Sustainability both on and off the track. These categories encourage students to excel individually while strengthening collaborative, cross-disciplinary efforts within their teams.

THE PIT STOP CHALLENGE

An intense pit-stop scenario to test skills and teamwork against the clock

The Pit Stop Challenge

Teams complete several tasks in a pit-stop scenario, performed quickly, effectively and safely in the fastest time. Available on Parts Delivery & Training Days. A 'final' takes place trackside at the end of the season.

A high degree of professionalism and a well-structured operation are important areas for any team in motorsport. This award will assess a team's ability to demonstrate commitment to both aspects. Judging November 2024

RACE CAR PREPARATION

Preparing your race car to a professional standard

Race Car Preparation

Teams are assessed on their ability to consistently prepare a race car to a professional standard ready for competition. Elements such as planning, budget, tooling, damage repair and livery are considered. Judging November 2024

Measurable growth and development of a team

Team Development

Team development and work readiness is one of the ultimate aims of the Challenge. Teams are assessed on their awareness, determination and the steps taken to improve individually and as a team. Judging November 2024
